At Air Pro Master, we can repair your air conditioner so that you get the AC you need in the summer. And make no mistake; Las Vegas summers can be brutal. As of this writing, it’s July. You better believe that this blog was written in luxurious, cool air conditioning. Without AC, it’s hard to focus on anything, much less be even remotely productive. That’s true anywhere in the summer, but particularly in Las Vegas, where the temperature routinely gets over a hundred degrees a day. Our AC repair can be there for you any time, day or night.
When our professionals arrive, they figure out what the problem is, and instantly get to work on it. Whether you need AC repair, maintenance or replacement, we can make your AC work the way you want it to work. Often, we get questions about: “what can I do to stay cool during the summer in addition to air conditioning?” Obviously, AC is important. But, even when your air conditioning is working as it should, there are some other steps that you can take to make sure that your location is staying cool while saving energy.
Run the AC
We understand that some people are reticent about letting their air conditioner run. Even during the summer, even during the hottest days, it’s normal to want to save money. That’s just human nature. Many of us, particularly those of us who grew up without air conditioning might think “I’m just going to get through this; it’s not bad enough to put on the air conditioning.” However, you’re almost invariably better off just running the air conditioner.
That doesn’t mean that you need to have it cranked to its absolute coldest temperature. But, newer air conditioning units are built so much more for energy efficiency than models from the past. When we say “newer units,” we don’t necessarily mean ones that came out in the last year or so, but rather air conditioners from the last several years. Energy efficient units have come leaps and bounds in a very brief period of time. With these air conditioners, you can stay cool without having to spend a fortune on your energy bill. That’s true any time of year, even in July.
If you don’t have one of these units, or you aren’t sure if your air conditioner is as energy efficient as it could be, call us. We can check out your unit for you. We have a service called “tune-up.” This is exactly what it sounds like: we look at your air conditioner and make sure that you’re getting as much out of it as you can. That means that it’s working to its peak performance as well as efficiency. That way, you get plenty of AC without paying plenty of money.
This is also a great time to find out if your air conditioner should continue being your air conditioner. If your air conditioner doesn’t give you a lot of air but does give you a large payment, then you’re almost invariably better off with a newer unit. With the amount of money you’ll save, you’ll come out ahead in the long run, and even in the medium to near run. By that same token, you’ll feel better, too: no one wants to have to spend a Vegas summer without AC. That’s true in residential and commercial facilities. We can help with both.
No, we aren’t talking about sunscreen. While we’re always here to help fix your AC unit, we also offer tips for how to keep your home cooler even when the unit is working as it should. A great tip, particularly during this time of year, is to close the blinds. This is especially effective for rooms that are facing the sun. Sure, looking out the window to see the sun as it hits the Strip, or elsewhere in Nevada, can be breathtakingly gorgeous. However, if you aren’t going to be in the room, or if you’re looking to stay cool as opposed to taking in a great view, then drawing the blinds can help.
See, this keeps the so-called “greenhouse effect” from taking over your home. The blinds reflect the light and thus keep the heat out of your home. Again, drawing the blinds is not going to be an adequate substitution for a working air conditioner when it’s 115 on July 20th or something, but on the hottest days, every little bit can help. The same goes for keeping the lights out in rooms you aren’t using. Remembering to turn out the lights in rooms that you won’t be in can help to keep any building just a little bit cooler, too.
Insulation and AC Running
Insulation can help quite a bit with keeping your home cooler. It can work in tandem with air conditioning to give you an environment that feels comfortable, that you actually want to spend time in. keeping the insulation in areas that you might not be able to go to all that often, like the attic, can go a long way towards keeping your home cooler even when it’s hot outside. Without insulation, the heat can just come into your home and sit there. With insulation, some of the heat goes to the insulation, thus making the environment below just a bit more livable.
Again, having plenty of insulation won’t make up for the lack of an air conditioner, or even an air conditioner that isn’t working at its peak. However, by having insulation and an air conditioner that’s working as it should, you can have a home or office building that doesn’t feel like it lacks a roof in the middle of August.
Another question we’re often asked is: “what temperature should I keep my AC at when I’m not there?” Obviously, this is a personal preference. The first answer is always “whatever makes you feel most comfortable.” however, for most of us, what we do is turn your air conditioner on when you aren’t there, but keep it at a higher temperature than you might otherwise use than when you are there. That way, when you come home and want it cooler, it doesn’t have to work as hard to do so.
For example, if it’s 95 out, many of us will set the temperature to somewhere in the high 80s, maybe something like 88. Then, when you get in, you can turn it down to a more acceptable temperature. This is just one way of running your AC. There are others. You may want to experiment with it a bit to find the method that works best for you and those around you. Regardless of how you run your AC, we can make sure that your air conditioner runs its best for you.
More than AC Repair
While we can repair your air conditioner, we can do so much more than just that. One of our most popular services is our preventative maintenance. We can check your air conditioner from time to time. That way, we can find prospective problems before they get much worse. By heading these problems off, we can fix them for far less cost. Even better, we can avoid emergencies. While our emergency AC repair experts are always on call, it’s better to stop emergencies before they start.
Air conditioner maintenance is just one of the services that we offer. We also can help with your plumbing and heating, too. Sure, most people aren’t exactly focused on their heater during this time of year, but it’s a great time to have your heater checked out to make sure that it’s ready for the cool temperatures this fall and winter. If you need someone to fix your AC, make it more energy efficient or anything else; don’t hesitate to contact us any time at (702) 598-4174.
