As a company that provides 24 hour AC service, it makes sense that we would tell you air conditioning is a good thing. After all, that, (along with heating and plumbing) is our job. We’re supposed to tell you how good it is in hopes that you’ll do business with us. However, when it comes to air conditioning, you don’t have to take our word for it. You can listen to the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, one of the foremost authorities on health anywhere.
AC and Its Health
If you go to the CDC’s website, they have a section covering tips of what you can do during when it’s extremely hot outside. They have a definition of “extreme heat,” but everyone has their own definition of what “extreme heat” means to them. For you, “extreme heat” might be at a higher or lower temperature than someone else. If you’re a Las Vegas native (like plenty of us are at Air Pro Master) then your definition of “extreme heat” is almost assuredly higher than the average American’s. However, for even us, the over 100-degree temperatures in the middle of July certainly qualify.
The very first thing they say to do is to “stay cool.” In defining how one stays cool, the CDC goes on to say: “stay in an air-conditioned place as much as possible.” That’s literally one of the first things they say to do in extreme heat. Now, they didn’t say that because they have a financial stake in ours or any other 24 hour AC service; they said that because air conditioning can help you when it’s hot out. Air conditioning can keep you safe when the temperature outside is unsafe.
They go on to say that “if your home does not have air conditioning, go to the shopping mall or public library.” That’s where we’d like to interject. We want your home to have air conditioning. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or place of business, we can help. At Air Pro Master, we’ve helped so many to get air conditioning who didn’t have it before. Now, we can provide that same service to you. We’ve installed so many different kinds of air conditioners into so many different kinds of homes, and now we can do the same for you. Don’t let your home be one of the ones that the CDC is talking about here.
Later in the paragraph, they lay out why this is so important: “Even a few hours spent in air conditioning can help your body stay cooler when you go back into the heat.” That’s just how powerful air conditioning is: it can help your body to deal with heat even when you’re not in the air conditioning itself. You owe it to yourself and the other people in your life (whether it’s folks who live with you or those who work or are patrons of your commercial establishment) make sure that they have the kind of air conditioning that doesn’t just let them feel better now, but later on in the day when they aren’t in the AC, too.
The last sentence of that paragraph reads: “call your local health department to see if there are any heat-relief shelters in your area.” At Air Pro Master, we have many different financing options available. We can work with you to find an air conditioning option at basically every budget. While we can’t guarantee that we can work something out before we sit down to talk to you, we can say that over the years, we’ve helped many people to get air conditioning who didn’t believe that they would be able to afford air conditioning before. We believe that everyone who wants to get air conditioning should be able to do so, and we’ll work with you to the best of our ability to ensure that is the case.
ACs Best Option
Some people believe that it’s possible to get by in the summer, even in summer, without air conditioning. These folks believe that you can just leave the windows open with plenty of screens and have lots of fans around. The windows idea might work so long as there’s a good breeze outside. The moment that there isn’t, the entire plan hits something of a snag. Worse, most screens can’t really stand the test of time. Even the best ones have a tendency to let in bugs and other problems. An air conditioner has an air filter that takes some of the worst parts of the air out, a window and screen have no such filter.
We’ve all been to a home or office that doesn’t have air conditioning but does have a lot of fans. You can buy a fan, even several fans, without spending much money. It might seem like a good alternative to getting air conditioning, or to repairing the air conditioning that you have. However, fans aren’t a good substitute for an air conditioner on a truly hot day. Again, you don’t have to take our word for it at Air Pro Master. The CDC covers this in their “Extreme Heat Tips,” too.
They say “electric fans may provide comfort, but when the temperature is in the high 90s, they will not prevent heat-related illness.” You can sit in front of a fan and watch TV, maybe even do your job – but it’s not a lasting solution. It’s particularly not a lasting solution, where essentially every day the temperature is above 90 degrees. Even on the cooler days in the summer and late summer, the temperature is going to be well north of 90 degrees. The last thing you or anyone around you needs is a heat-related illness.
By “heat-related illness,” the CDC means heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat rash. Heatstroke is a body temperature of over 103 degrees, and it involves dizziness, nausea, headache, skin that’s overly damp, dry, red, or hot and it could even include the loss of consciousness. Heat exhaustion and heat cramps are similar, but they also involve muscle pain and spasms. Obviously, these aren’t going to occur if you’re without air conditioning for a bit.
But, just because you might not be at risk of one of these ailments, someone around you might be. The elderly and the young are at greater risk during extreme heat, however, everyone really kind of is. Once the temperature gets above a certain temperature, it’s hard to think straight, much less feel comfortable or even do anything productive. Air conditioning, in a way, really allows you to take control of your life and do what you want to do.
24 Hour AC Service
Going back to the heat tips from the CDC, they close out their mentions of air conditioning by saying: “taking a cool shower or bath or moving to an air-conditioned place is a much better way to cool off (as opposed to relying on a fan).” Again, you can’t stay in a cool shower or bath forever, so eventually, you’re going to need air conditioning.
That’s where we come in. Here at Air Pro Master, we can be at your home or place of business at literally any time, day or night. Whenever you need your AC checked, replaced, or fixed, we can be there. We’ll find out what’s wrong with your air conditioning, and then present you with different options so that you can find the one that’s right for you. We can even do preventative maintenance and checkups as well. If you’re having an emergency, or just want to know more about AC, call us at (702) 598-4174.
